What is the NMC Eligibility Certificate?

The National Medical Commission (NMC) Eligibility Certificate — often called the "NMC Eligibility Certificate" or "Eligibility cum Entrance Test (EET) Certificate" — is a mandatory document for Indian citizens studying MBBS at any foreign medical institution.

Why it's mandatory: NMC requires it to verify that you meet Indian eligibility criteria before studying abroad. Without it, your foreign MBBS degree cannot be recognized in India.

Who Needs It?

Every Indian citizen who:

  • Plans to join any foreign medical university for MBBS
  • Has NEET qualification
  • Meets the age and PCB percentage criteria

Step-by-Step Application Process

Step 1: Visit the NMC Website

Go to nmc.org.in and navigate to the "Foreign Medical Graduate" section.

Step 2: Register / Login

Create an account or login with your credentials.

Step 3: Fill the Application Form

Fill in:

  • Personal details
  • Academic details (Class 10, 12 marks)
  • NEET details (roll number, year, score)
  • Proposed foreign university details
  • Passport details

Step 4: Upload Documents

Required uploads:

  • Class 10 mark sheet (PDF)
  • Class 12 mark sheet (PDF)
  • NEET Scorecard (PDF)
  • Passport copy (PDF)
  • Passport-size photo (JPEG)
  • Birth Certificate (PDF)

Step 5: Pay the Fee

The NMC charges a processing fee (check current fee on NMC website — changes periodically).

Step 6: Submit and Wait

Processing time: typically 10–15 working days. You'll receive the certificate by post and/or digitally.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Applying before NEET result: Wait for your final NEET scorecard
  • Wrong university details: Enter exactly the university you've been admitted to
  • Expired passport: Your passport must be valid for at least 5 years from admission date
  • Unclear documents: All uploads must be legible PDFs

Important Note

The NMC eligibility certificate is specific to the university you apply for. If you change universities, you may need to re-apply. Always double-check this with NMC guidelines.
